La Florida passa dai 24° di sabato ai -11° C di mercoledì, ma l'ondata di maltempo è eccezionale anche in altre zone del Sud

La Florida Settentrionale si è svegliata sotto una coltre di neve che ha coperto spiagge, palme e piscine in uno degli stati noti per il clima caldo e mite. Immagini rarissime. I media locali hanno definito la tempesta storica, mentre il governatore Ron DeSantis ha dichiarato lo stato di emergenza: le lezioni in alcune zone sono state annullate e le attività commerciali sono state chiuse. Ma l'ondata di maltempo con una tempesta di neve  ha colpito tutta la costa del Golfo degli Stati Uniti, con nevicate record e temperature rigide in zone decisamente insolite e non abituate a questo tipo di clima. La tempesta ha colpito dalla costa del golfo del Texas alla costa atlantica delle Caroline, causando chiusure diffuse e interruzioni del traffico.
